I'm just going to have to say it again, I live in such a beautiful place!

And folks, I bought a Bugaboo. It was too good of a deal not to pass up, thanks Craigslist! And they are so right about how wonderful it is, I am in love!!

I totally understand why they are so expensive. It is a dream to push, super lightweight, a huge canopy, big storage basket, lots of accessories, and absolutely beautiful lines. I am so silly in love with it.

Luckily I'm still nannying C! We've been out a few times in it. Crusing in luxury!
It's lovely, but it's really not helping my "be happy with where you are in life" mentality I'm working on.

In other news, I'm also still in love with Hattie...even when wiggles her way under my covers at night and bites my thigh. Still working on that...

Xoxo, Kayla

Autumn is here!

Friends, I am embracing autumn.

This year has been easier than anticipated. We have had a lot of sunny cold days...a nice change from our dreary rainy fall weather! I've been loving watching the trees change in my new neighborhood, they are so lovely!

For a summer girl like me, Autumn can be a hard season. It's usually just so depressing here in the PNW with the rain and grey skies. I'm embracing the crisp wind, crunchy leaves, bright blue skies, boots, sweaters and really thanking the Lord I found an apartment with a lot of natural light.

We have had a LOT of fog in the region lately (almost  2 straight weeks!). It lasts for most of the day, with two or three golden hours of sunshine in the afternoon. It's pretty spooky to be driving around in the middle of the day in thick fog but if it means no rain, I'll take it!

Thanks Autumn for being kind to us this year! I hope winter is just as accommodating.

Ps, I'm writing this at a coffee shop and the two older women near me have been talking about the fog for the last 10 minutes!

The non-quilter's quilt

I've been dreaming of this quilt for weeks. I made my first baby quilt for a little boy in August and was dying to make a full-sized one for myself. And then I saw the fabric line that Made By Rae just released and I fell in love with the pink bunting.

I found a cotton coral sheet at goodwill for $3 for the back. Cotton black and white polka dot and a cotton/poly mint to go with the pink bunting and I then I just had to plan a time to make it.

Luckily, while I was home for the weekend my sister Kimber and I hosted a Crafternoon with some friends. There's nothing better than crafting with friends! Our friends C, Bret, and Maddie came over. C and Bret did watercolors, Kimber made a quilt for the baby she nannies for, and Maddie made her halloween costume. Such a productive afternoon!

I am so in love with this quilt. It's the perfect size and weight, and it is so so so adorable. It is so easy to make too, the perfect afternoon project. Just cut your fabric into strips, sew together. Place top piece and back piece right-sides together (I decided not to add batting) and sew all the way around leaving a space (Kimber did this part for me! She's such a nice sister). Turn right-side-to using the space you left open. Sew the opening closed. Top stitch all the way around and quilt across every other row. And done!

I'm off to cuddle my kitten with my cozy quilt.

xoxo, kayla.

Meet Hattie Mae

I got a kitten!!!!!!!!

Her name is Hattie Mae and she's 9-weeks old.

I am in love!!!! I've never owned a cat before, and I was pretty nervous saying yes to one. As silly as it sounds, from the moment I saw her I knew she was perfect for me. She's cuddly and playful and soooooo cute!

You're probably going to be seeing a lot of her. I'm smitten :)
