Life things lately...

On Wednesday I took the day off work so that my dad, sister, and I could drive down to Portland to see my other sister and her kids.

It's been 4 months since we've seen them, and I missed the kids so much! It ended up being a worthwhile trip, even though it was bittersweet. We saw them for 3 hours, not long enough but better than nothing.

We went to OMSI! It was really fun! The kids definitely enjoyed it, totally worth it.

My favorite part, besides seeing the kids, was the fetal development exhibit. It was amazing to see what a fetus looks like at each week! I wish I could have taken pictures, but they don't allow photography in that area.

It was my second time in Portland. I've been watching Portlandia in preparation and was bummed to not see Carrie and Fred on the streets ;) A very cute and interesting city.

Lace Scarf!

My friend Megan is very good at making things. She is patient and detail oriented, pretty much the opposite of me. Megan made a beautiful scarf the other day, it is so cute! I decided to make one too...

I don't have a picture tutorial, words will have to suffice!

It's an infinity scarf with lace added in.

Here's how you can make it!

-Determine how wide you want your scarf to be and then double that and add 1/2'' seam allowance (mine was 12 1/2'')
-To determine how long you want your scarf to be you can wrap the fabric around your neck until you find a length that works for you. I wanted my scarf to have two loops and for the lace section to be 12'' long. It ended up being 6' total with 12' of' lace included in that. Add 1/2'' for the seam.
-Next, sew the lace to the fabric so you have one long strip of fabric+lace.
-Fold in half (hotdog way) with the right sides together and sew into a tube, but don't sew the ends yet.
-Turn inside out
-Sew ends together
-You have a cute scarf!

Build me back

Jesus, how do you love me so much? You keep your promises so well, it amazes me. Even when I break your heart you love me. You bless me so much. Thank you, my forever King.

Today I took Ballet 5 at the studio. Whew, it's been like 8 months since I've taken a ballet class! I only did barre, but it was hard. I think it was just what my brain and body needed. I'm excited to keep challenging myself and improving my technique. Sarah used the most beautiful song for adagio! The whole time I was thinking two things:

Jesus knows my heart!

and

Oh my gosh, these girls are absolutely beautiful!

My most wonderful friend took the class too and she's just absolutely gorgeous. I don't think that she thinks she's a wonderful dancer, but oh my goodness she's even good after a long break! She shines joy.

Anyway, here's the song Sarah used...

What's that on the ground?
It's what's left of my heart
Somebody named Jesus broke it to pieces
And planed the shards
And they're coming up green,
And they're coming in bloom
I can hardly believe this is all coming true

(chorus)
Just as I am and just as I was
Just as I will be He loves me, He does
He showed me the day that
He shed His own blood
He loves me, oh He loves me, He does

All of my life I've held on to this fear
These thistles and vines ensnare and entwine
What flowers appeared
It's the fear that I'll fall one too many times
It's the fear that His love is no better than mine
(but He tells me that)

Just as I am and just as I was
Just as I will be He loves me, He does
He showed me the day that
He shed His own blood
He loves me, oh He loves me, He does
He loves me, oh, He loves me, He does

Well it's time now to harvest what little that grew
This man they call Jesus, who planted the seeds
Has come for the fruit
And the best that I've got isn't nearly enough
He's glad for the crop, but it's me that He loves

You speak to me in the most lovely ways.

Also, today Sophie recognized my voice! When I got over to the house Joe had her upstairs. I shouted hello from downstairs and Joe called down saying "She's smiling! She recognizes your voice! she's so excited!" Ahhh, thank you Jesus! I love that little baby.

It's snow-amazing

“Dearest daughter,” said Aslan, planting a lion's kiss on her twitching, velvet nose, “I knew you would not be long in coming to me.
Joy shall be yours.

I feel that Jesus is awaking in my life. Life is so much better when I put my trust and hope in Jesus and not myself. I have found that lovely wonderful everlasting joy running through my heart and soul again. It is... exquisite.

We've had a snow storm in the PNW this week. The studio has been closed all week! I got to sleep in today because my nanny baby's mom stayed home from work.

I spent the day with two of my roommates from last year, We had soup, hot chocolate, and went sledding :) it was extremely enjoyable.

Best part: I came home to an absolutely delicious dinner of chicken pot pie!

Work tomorrow? We'll see!
